He is a specialist in IP laws and is rated as one of the top 5 IP attorneys in India. He has a rich and vast practice in this area spanning 22 years. Till Sept.2003 he was Head of Research Planning and Business Development Division at National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune. He has assisted NCL leadership in generating licensing income and contract R & D business from Multinational companies like Du Pont, GE, Dow, ICI, Eastman, Akzo, and Unilever etc. Dr. Hirwani has coordinated World Bank funded technology institutions support services programme at NCL. He is member of Research Councils of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) and National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR). He is also a member of Licensing Executive Society, USA and Commercial Marketing Development Assocaition, USA. She is a graduate from the University of Bombay Faculty of Life Sciences and a law graduate from the University of Bombay and went on to complete her masters from the University of Cambridge, UK and Harvard, US. She has done her articles with M/s Mulla & Mulla and Craigie Blunt & Caroe and has worked with Arthur Andersen too. She set up Dudhat Pereira & Associates her own firm in 1996. After a brief break taken to work with an eminent law firm, she restarted Dudhat Pereira & Associates in April 2005. She was a part of the core group committee established by the Government of Maharashtra to make recommendations to the State Government on legal issues relating to privatisation. She is a Director on the Boards of listed and unlisted companies and was an Honorary Director of Institute of Intellectual Property Rights since 2005. As the Vice President, NASSCOM which is the premier trade body and the ‘Chamber of Commerce’ for the IT-BPO industry in India, he conceptualizes and implements the development of multiple touchpoints for members by synergizing NASSCOM and its member companies’ interests and objectives, at both the regional and national levels. He also leads several forums like the Remote Infrastructure Management (RIM) Forum, Emerging Companies Forum, etc. He has been an instrumental part of NASSCOM’s Trusted Sourcing Initiative and has led the Cyber Labs initiative in Mumbai, Thane and Pune in partnership with the enforcement agencies. Previously he was the Director, TiE Mumbai and has worked with Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), Franchising Association of India (FAI) and US- Environment Resource Center (US-ERC), Emery Worldwide and Air Express International. At NASSCOM, Rajiv has administered several outward trade delegations. He has represented NASSCOM in the International Advisors Council to the several countries and was invited by the U.S. Government to participate in their International Visitors programme on US Trade and World Market.
